We appreciate your interest in joining the Canadian Home Builders’ Association South Okanagan (CHBA SO). Our mission is to represent and support ethical, professional businesses in the residential construction industry across the South Okanagan and Central Kootenays.
Membership Criteria
We welcome applications from reputable and professional companies operating in our region. To apply, you must:
Provide references from three CHBA member businesses.
Agree to comply with the CHBA Code of Ethics
Undergo application review by our Board of Directors, followed by ratification by the full membership.
Membership Dues
Annual Fee: $968.00 + GST = $1,016.40
The membership year runs from April 1 to March 31.
The first payment is for one full membership year and is due after ratification is complete.
Pro-rated dues are then provided for the second year when memberships renew April 1st
Declaration
All applications for membership are subject to approval by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association (CHBA SO). By applying, the applicant agrees to:
Comply with the By-Laws and Code of Ethics of the CHBA South Okanagan.
Hold the Association, it's officers and directors harmless of any disciplinary action that may be taken against them as a member.
Only use and display any association logo or emblem while they remain a member in good standing.
Please note that all new memberships are subject to a one-year probationary period.
It is the mandate of the CHBA at all levels: Local, Provincial and National, to provide information, promote membership and foster communication, e.g. catalogues of members, internet information, new products and services etc. The applicant hereby consents to the use of the information in this application for such purposes (banking and credit information excepted) by all levels of CHBA.
Code of Ethics
Members shall comply with applicable building codes of Canada as a minimum standard for construction and shall work toward its improvement in the interests of structural sufficiency, safety, and health.
Members shall plan their sites and homes to conform to the principles of good community planning and support for the environment.
Members shall deal honestly and fairly with their customers and stand behind the quality of their work and service commitments.
Members shall exchange information and experience, and encourage research on materials, technical advancements and building techniques in order to provide the best value for their customers.
Members shall avoid all conduct or practice detrimental to the house building industry, to the Association, to the good name or reputation of any of its members, or its customers.
Members shall commit to continuing learning through human resource policies and practices, including employment practices which treat employees as assets.
Members shall actively promote health and safety principles.
Members shall treat their competitors, including their property and ideas, with respect.
These responsibilities are freely and solemnly assumed as they form part of an obligation as Members of the Canadian Home Builders' Association.
I hereby acknowledge receipt of the CHBA South Okanagan Code of Ethics, and I pledge to operate my firm in full accordance with the spirit and intent of this Code.
I understand that any violation of the Code of Ethics may result in disciplinary action as outlined in the Association’s By-Laws.
